World Week for Animals in Labs passed by in a whirlwind of activity. The week was an amazing show of grassroots force, and a watershed moment for the animal liberation movement. It is hard to put into words.

So instead we have opted to tell the story in pictures. Resistance is a beautiful thing to behold, especially when it is taken up by the masses.

Banner Drop in Portland Against UW and Skanska

From anonymous activists: 

Early morning on April 22, activists hung a massive banner from the Hawthorne Bridge in Portland, OR. The banner read, "UW + SKANSKA HAVE BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS" across the top and "#NoNewAnimalLab #MarchonUW #StormSkanska" across the bottom.

Skanska's Portland office, and in particular David Schmidt, have been protested by Portland activists for months. David is heavily involved in the lab project and the Portland office has been shielding him from scrutiny.

A Busy Monday in Seattle: Tree Occupation and Three Home Demos!

"Good morning, University of Washington!!" From the top of a giant sequoia in the University of Washington's Red Square, an activist unfurled a 32-foot long No New Animal Lab banner and then announced "good morning" to the campus through a bullhorn.

WWAIL Starts Strong in Portland!

From Portland:  World Week for Animals in Labs (WWAIL) officially started on Saturday. All across the country, campaigners will be engaging Skanska and the University of Washington. Everything will culminate in mass opposition on the campus of UW. Things are only just beginning as the No New Animal Lab campaign gears up for a week of action. Portland activists started a bit early on Friday with a demonstration outside the offices of Skanska USA. Skanska remains the focus of the campaign around the country.
