Animal activists around the country have begun to increase pressure against Skanska USA. Only a few weeks into the campaign and there have been protests in Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Atlanta, DC, Ft. Lauderdale, and New Haven. Last week there was an office disruption in Los Angeles, followed by an action taken by Santa pranksters only hours later. Cyber pressure against Skanska is ongoing.
On Monday, Portland Animal Liberation organized another protest outside the Portland offices of Skanska USA. Around 15 animal advocates demonstrated and leafletted about Skanska's contract to build the new $123 million underground animal lab for UW. Meanwhile, Skanska employees and security anxiously attempted to film the activists and involve the Portland Police. Clearly the local pressure in Portland is beginning to get to them.
Portland isn't the only city to continue pressuring Skanska USA. Early on Tuesday, activists protested the construction company's Seattle office.
This is all about consistency and escalating pressure. These communities and others are committing themselves to the No New Animal Lab campaign. The clock is ticking before Skanska will attempt to break ground in Seattle and begin constructing a facility dedicated to captivity and torture...
